The liberal Colorado Fiscal Institute is one of the special interest groups behind trying to repeal TABOR. Their specialty (method of operation) is pricey lawsuits challenging voters right to choose how much to tax and for what purpose.

In 2010, Colorado’s state budget was $19B with a population of just over 5 million. Now, it’s nearly $33B with 5.8 million people. The population increased by only 15 percent, but the budget has grown by 36 percent!!! Are you getting twice as much service and benefit from government now than you did ten years ago?

Democrat legislators are such elitists.
Even though Colorado voters have said NO to the last six state-wide tax increases, they just ignore the results by calling a tax a fee (no vote required), setting up enterprise zones, and filing lawsuits.

TABOR limits the growth of government (at all levels) by adding the rate of inflation and population growth to the baseline of the previous year’s budget. Taxpayers are guaranteed the right to vote on all tax increases – and receive a refund of any extra tax monies collected over the allowed amount. Unless they vote to allow the government to keep the extra money for a specific purpose. Proposition CC would let government always keep any extra tax money – without any further votes of the people.

Proposition CC on the Nov 5 ballot, would force Colorado taxpayers to permanently forfeit our constitutionally-guaranteed tax refunds. The result: The annual state budget goes up every year, with no limits to the growth of government.
